Getting Weaves in the Era of Natural

Getting Weaves in the Era of Natural

In the Natural Hair era I find myself conflicted. I love that we as women of color are starting to love our natural tresses again and letting go of the "Relaxer" and extensions. My feed on IG is full of natural hair tutorials and products, many of which we have available for purchase here on HairwayBeautyCo. However, I still find myself itching to get a weave or use clip-ins because my hair simply is not long enough. When I say long enough I mean long enough to my standards. My hair is to my shoulders and just still will not grow past it. I have tried everything including rice water and ntrgld YUM YUM water which is available on this site, which has worked to get my hair thicker but I feel like my hair is just not destined to grow that long. And my natural state to me just is not what everyone else's is. I see big curls or cute little fro's on my ig and my mane is far from that which seeps into my insecurity even more.

I have let go partially of the sew in with leave out because I felt like my hairline was starting to recede however, I have tried a lace front wig and I was not feeling it. I did take a natural break and started to wear protective styles but for me, some of my outfits look cute with certain hairstyles. This factors into my personal preferences on what I wear as well. I like off the shoulder looks but prefer longer hairstyles to accompany them. So here I am, in between natural and not so natural but hair is still not growing. With that being said, I will continue to to walk the line of in between while searching for the length that may never come lol

Sincerely,

A conflicted Hairway Bae

I feel your conflict. I love weaves but found wigs were better because I love switching up my styles there is minimal stress on my real hair. However I still wear my natural hair at least once a week to let it breathe and to remind folks " i still got it " I think the natural hair movement is amazing but your hairstyle should reflect your inner self. Length is relative with all these people buying hair. I think its boils down to how dependent you are on a style to make you feel confident in yourself.

Surviving the Holidays Guide 001: 5 Tips on Staying Healthy Around Unhealthy Family.

December 25, 2019

The holiday season is amongst us, and being around family can be the greatest joy or the biggest pain (and sometimes both at the same time). Holidays can be very hard for us who have toxic immediate/extended family members. We also understand that many of us don't have the privilege of spending time with family or loved ones for many different reason. Either way, this time of the year can be very hard for some of us and HairWay is here to provide some helpful tips on staying healthy mental/physically for the upcoming year.

So if you are looking forward to granny's/abuelas mac'n'cheese/nacatamales, but not to uncle/Tio Joe's closed minded views on religion...
